Photo. Leslie Leonard Willis at the age of three was evacuated to Bedford with two of his brothers and sister Iris, and were taken in by an elderly couple who were unable to cope with one so young. Leslie�s parents collected him and returned him to London where conditions were such that he was sent to Cornwall for his safety. Returning to London at the end war Leslie followed his brothers into the Catering trade, and then into National Service with the R.A.F. Fresh air of those early years left it�s mark, for he then applied to join the Park Service at Hampstead Heath and remained there until retirement. During the park years he married Mary �Barbara� Leonard ( a name they both shared ) and passed to their two children,Paul Leonard and Julie Leonard Willis. |
