| Photo. Daisy Flynn, witness at Austin�s wedding was his elder sister. Austin�s Parents :- Father, Albert Byrne. ( came from Kent ). Mother, Roseanne Oneil. Austin Byrne, born in St Helens lived at 20 Dennis Avenue, Thatto Heath. with his mother Roseanne, He had two brothers and four sisters. His Father had been dead for about three years when he got married to Dorothy Iris Willis. He served in the Navy for about four years and was at the D-day landings on a tank landing craft. (1939-45,War). He was demobbed from the Navy in October 1945 and went home to St Helens to work with Rockware Glass for 32 years, until redundant. finally working as caretaker for Lowe House ,and Carr Mill junior Schools until his 65th Birthday. A keen Golfer and Gardener. |
