FREDERICK CHARLES WILLIS
Born 9th February 1920, Eldest son of Fred� and Florence Willis.
Enlisted for service with 460 Squadron, Bomber command, of the R.A.F.
on the 28th September 1940.as a Flight Engineer 1204293.
�Freddie� served for four of the war years, rising to the rank of Sergeant
before being reported �missing� on his 14th operation.

The records show that 1204293 Sgt Frederick Charles Willis was Flight
Engineer on Lancaster Bomber No JB 742 which took off from RAF
Binbrook ( AR-D ) Lincolnshire at 21.29hrs on 25th February 1944.
for a raid on Augsburg, Germany. Although the raid was a success

�Freddie� leaves behind a wife Ethel and two children Freda and Frederick.


It was the Government�s policy to keep allies of each nation together
where possible, and RAF Binbrook was allocated to the Australians
serving here during the war. Freddie� as a trained Flight Engineer
served with the �Aussies� under the 460 RAAF Squadron badge.
